Why are there no appointments to process the Visa?
International mobility between the two countries entered a new normality since the total opening of the borders, in November of last year. And the Embassy of the United States resumed visa procedures from December 16, 2021.
However, the waiting times to obtain the tourist visa are very long, due to the interruption of procedures caused by the pandemic and the high and sudden demand for visas.
Only in the case of the consular section in Mexico City, the waiting time to obtain an appointment is 514 calendar days. That is, until June 2023.
In the case of Monterrey, the wait is 484 calendar days. But the place where available appointments will take the longest is Guadalajara, where it extends up to 651 calendar days.

In the case of other types of visas other than tourist, such as student or employment, waiting times range from 15 to 60 days, in these cities . In fact, in Ciudad Juárez, the student visa has a waiting time of two days.
However, the United States Department of State warns that, depending on the mechanics of each consulate, the type and number of visa applications, waiting times may vary.
In some cases, for example, the personal interview may be considered unnecessary and, therefore, the consulates will require the documentation to be sent by other non-face-to-face means.
Likewise, both older adults and other eligible people can be exempted from the in-person appointment at the CDMX Embassy or at any United States consulate.
