El Independiente celebrates the IV International Congress of Artificial Intelligence: where is Europe?

El Independiente celebrates today, November 26, the 2021 edition of the International Artificial Intelligence Congress at the headquarters of the Comunitat Valenciana Digital District, in Alicante. As in previous years, this International Congress has been possible thanks to the support of organizations such as Suma Gestión Tributaria, of the Diputación de Alicante, and Distrito Digital of the Generalitat Valenciana; In addition, companies such as Telefónica, Banco Sabadell, Huawei, Hidraqua, Quirón Salud, GLOBANT and the Fundación Lab Mediterraneo, among others, participate.

After a period marked by the coronavirus pandemic, and which was the topic to be discussed during the event last year, during this edition the tables and experts who will be present at the congress will debate the role that the European Union plays in Intelligence Artificial.

Under the title 'The Age of Artificial Intelligence: A New World Order, from the global technological leadership of the United States to the brutal transformation of China, where is Europe?', the experts will delve into the complex situation of the countries of the euro zone, since the Old Continent has always taken regulation and legal protection as its flag while the United States or China have followed other paths, growing at a faster rate than Europe.

In fact, last May the European Commission put forward an ambitious proposal to regulate Artificial Intelligence in the EU, banning some applications that may violate European rights, limiting others of high risk, with a national and community supervision system, which includes the possibility of large fines.

Analysis by zones and by sectors

This IV Congress will start with the positions of the two powers that order our world. To get to know it from his own perspective, the Congress has the contributions of Kai-Fu Lee, current president of Sinovations Ventures, former president of Google China and best-selling author; with the participation of David Carmona, general director of Artificial Intelligence and Innovation at Microsoft Corporation, from Redmond, Seattle (United States) and an analysis table on Europe's position against the two technological titans. This debate will be presented by Juan Pedro Moreno and will participate in the hand in hand, Andrés Pedreño and Nuria Oliver.

Likewise, during this Friday's session of the IV Congress, a panel of experts will discuss the public-private and institutional collaboration that must exist in Artificial Intelligence so that Spain and Europe can strengthen the necessary networks to ensure European positions.

Entrepreneurship and new businesses, investments in technology, as well as the creation of national and international hubs will be other topics that will be discussed at the event held in Alicante, one of the most important cities in the world for creation and attracting talent in the artificial intelligence sector.

Neither will topics as relevant as climate change and the role played by AI or how tourism must be supported by technology in order to grow after the pandemic has left a bleak outlook in the sector.

Alicante, international hub

As previously underlined, Alicante is once again the commitment of El Independiente to organize this new edition of a Congress that is already a reference among experts and companies.

The strategic location, its climate and the impulse of the different administrations have pushed Alicante, and the Valencian Community, to be a technological benchmark in Europe.
