In the Latino community in the State of Maryland, there are also good-hearted people who act as guardian angels helping immigrants. Alex Sunca, originally from Argentina, is one of the most distinguished community leaders and today we see him shaking hands with the young Peruvian Carlos Fernández Salcedo, a former marinera dance champion, who suffers from end-stage kidney disease.

This Sunday, January 30, starting at 11 in the morning, a solidarity crusade will be held in Maryland to help save the life of the talented young Peruvian, who has been champion sailor in Trujillo.

The Peruvian Junelly Salcedo, mother of the sick young man, along with the activist Diana López, from New Jersey, expressed their gratitude to the Hispanic leader Alex Zunca and the volunteers from the Fire Angels Association in Virginia and the Maryland-Piura Twinning.

“In May of last year, my son Carlos traveled as a tourist to the United States and was hospitalized in an emergency, receiving the diagnosis of a chronic renal disease in the terminal phase; Therefore, he requires a kidney transplant, ”said Mrs. Salcedo sadly in virtual communication with this journalist. Salcedo, a resident of Lima, had to make an emergency trip to meet his son. His first problem has been where to live and take care of his sick son.

“We got him an apartment 4 minutes from where he gets dialysis. We also get you fresh food daily. We are continuing to get medical assistance and the hospital for the transplant and hopefully we can have health insurance that provides coverage,” Alex Zunca, a police officer and community leader, stated in an interview.
