The frost of these weeks have made that in the umbrellas, the water that emerges from the sources or the green areas are frozen and a thick layof its sides, forming natural cubes of natural ice.

In our ascension from Larraitz, along the traditional path, we find numerous frozen stretches or with abundant frost that made us the same question to ronde in our minds: "Who sends us to us to come to the mountain with this cold?"We soon discover that it is worth it and compensates to get up early and spend a little cold.

As other mendizales we start from the parking lot by the Zamao Gate in the Larraitz neighborhood (401 m.).After leaving behind Zamao's fence, we follow the loose stone path that is located under Larrunarri.Throughout it we will find numerous signals and brands that will take us to the top without difficulty. Objective that we will achieve following the trail of those who preceded us to achieve the beloved top.A few meters from the fence we can see, to the left of the road, the stone of Neskarri.According to the legend «a girl was buried by it when she was about to collect the water that was flowing from the source that there were in that place. Both the spring and the source disappeared ».

The track continues to the Urruzti ravine. We will pass the Gaztesuiko Langa fence (540 m.).Following our path to Amiztiko Harkaitza (610 m.), There is another fence that we must leave behind to follow the track, already narrower that will bring us closer to the Pinar in the Labain term.

The slope is quite demanding, but the effort is worth it and by the time we realize we will place us at the source of Oria Iturri (855 m.).Larrunarri will not lose sight of us.We will advance along the cobbled road, you reach the beginning of "tximista bidea", an authentic "breakupiernas" in full rule, only suitable for very prepared people or eager to suffer, because the slope brings them. The rest we opted to cross the fence that goes up to the right in search of the zigurate or "ziate" majadas. The first one is "Ziate Behekoa" (925 m) that appears after overcoming the crest that dominates us.Then we continue the left left by leaving a fountain next to the road, before reaching "Ziate Goikoa" (1.008 m).At all times the path will guide us without the greatest difficulty. On the left, protected at the bottom of a dolina, is Elutsetane's majada (1.086 m).

Then we pass slightly below the hill of Zaldiarate (1.148 m) and, after a rocky level (1.173 m), Egurral Collado is reached (1.154 m).A steep slope separates us from the top, and just follow the path that travels to go to a small shoulder to the right of the top (1.290 m).Here is followed by the simple crest to its culminating point. It can be easily continued on the crest to reach the tip that raises a cross: "Erlabeltzeko Puntie" (1.346 m).The top is rocky, and in them there is a mailbox and the figure of a Mendizale who enjoys the magnificent views. From here you can contemplate the ridges of Aizkorri or Udalatx, as well as the Oria River Valley, the Hernio Massif to Murumendi and the entire Cresterío of the Sierra de Aizkorri, Navarre Pyrenees, Navarre Pyrenees,...

Something magical has Larrunarri that wraps us every time we get to its top. There are those who say that Magiade Mari feels.According to the legend, the lady of Larrunarri, a young girl from the Irabi hamlet of Amezketa curse by her mother and dragged by the same devil to her top, finds in one of her corners her current dwelling.Legend or not, "Jainkosa" chose one of the most beautiful Basque mountains for her eternal life and her beauty has made her one of the emblematic mountains among Mendizales.

Out how, we love to upload to her and surprises us that rewards every time we visit her.
