They leave Guanajuato out of the legalization of "chocolate" cars

León.- The Federal Government published the decree to legalize cars known as "chocolates" in states of the Mexican Republic, where Guanajuato was left out.

On this occasion, feasibility was given for the regularization of Michoacán, Durango, Nayarit, Sonora, Nuevo León, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Tamaulipas, Chihuahua and Coahuila.

Cars entering the country from the United States or Canada are colloquially known as "chocolates" in Mexico.

The document published in the Official Gazette of the Federation indicates some aspects for which said viability is granted in the mentioned states.

"The purpose of this Decree is to promote the regularization of used vehicles of foreign origin that are in the territory of the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila de Zaragoza, Durango, Michoacán de Ocampo, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Sonora and Tamaulipas, and do not have the document that certifies their legal stay in the country, through the administrative facilities and stimuli provided therein.

"Used vehicles whose Vehicle Identification Number corresponds to the manufacturing or assembly of the vehicle in Mexico, the United States of America or Canada and are classified in the tariff fractions indicated in the following paragraph, which as of October 19, 2021 were in the territory of the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila de Zaragoza, Durango, Michoacán de Ocampo, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Sonora and Tamaulipas and do not have the document that proves their legal stay in the country, to For the purposes of their regularization in national territory, they may be definitively imported without requiring a certificate of origin, prior permission from the Ministry of Economy, or registration in the Register of Importers.

Nor may vehicles be imported that, due to their technical characteristics, are prohibited from circulating in the country of origin or in Mexico.

The president of the UCD in Guanajuato, Francisco Escobar, stated that Guanajuato should be included, because, after said decree, it is possible that the citizens of the State seek to go to other states to regularize.
